The Hopeless Client

The Hopeless Client

Recently, I had a coaching client who was seeking help to get out of a downward financial spiral. Over the years, he experienced an overwhelming amount of discouragement concerning his business. As we conversed, it quickly became apparent that this man had lost all hope. He was letting his past determine his future. His hopelessness stemmed from the lack of progress he had hoped for.

Slowly cutting corners in his services to make procedures simpler, he lost the quality in the process. His clients gradually dropped off one by one, which caused him to do less and less. This decrease in customers and revenue resulted in him losing the drive to push on. He became disillusioned on how to move forward. It drained him emotionally, physically, and mentally to think about the future so much that he avoided it at all costs. He needed to recover hope to open the possibilities of a greater future. Before we began to create a plan of action to push forward, he first needed to see the possibilities. So, I built our sessions around uncovering his hopes and dreams again as we worked backward from his goals to figure out the necessary steps to get there. We started to dig up his passions and desires that, until now, had been deeply buried in hopelessness.

Over time, he began to generate new systems that had not happened for quite a while. Confidence started to rise, as did the drive to accomplish his goals. He began to see the possibility of a new beginning. When hope came back into play, it had a dramatic effect. He implemented new ways of thinking and new ways of operating his business that opened the door for better quality services. His demeanor began to change, strengthening his communication with prospective clients. Within nine months, he saw a significant increase in revenue and opportunities in his business. I saw firsthand how motivation could ignite with just a spark of hope.
