You deserve a raise.
At least you will if you follow the principles laid out in my new book 5 WAYS TO GET A RAISE. But first, you must understand that a raise doesn’t have anything to do with money. Did you get that? Let me say it again for dramatic effect…a raise doesn’t have anything to do with money. Financial compensation is merely a byproduct of the value you add. The more influential you are, the more valuable you’ll become. The formula is actually quite simple:
I + I = I
Influence plus (more) Influence equals Income. And the more I’s (Influence) you add to the equation the greater your income will be. Here is the infinity formula you could carry on forever:
I + I + I + I + I + I + I + I + I + I + I + I + I + I + I + I + I = Ix
Consistently increase your influence, and watch your income soar.
I have coached many people, from entry-level employees to high-profile CEOs, and the common denominator they all share is their capacity and commitment to raising their influence. You, too, are created with the ability to go as far as your dedication will take you. You possess unlimited potential to be, do, and have more. Success is an equal opportunity outcome if you are willing to put forth the effort. It isn’t reserved for some and withheld from others.
Life is like a bank account: what you deposit into it is what you’ll withdraw from it. Your value is only limited by the cap you put on it. And the only person responsible for raising your value is…you! If you don’t value yourself, don’t expect others to value you either. If you don’t expect greatness to come out of you, don’t expect others to see the greatness in you. If you want to get better at what you do, you have to get better at who you are. Always remember that leadership is the inward work which leads to outward behavior.
