Lifting Others Up To A Higher Level

Lifting Others Up To A Higher Level

February 23, 2021 Posted by John Barrett

Lifting Others Up To A Higher Level

Isaac Newton said, “If I have seen farther than others, it is because I was standing on the shoulders of giants.”

True leaders are lifters, they genuinely want the best for the people around them. They push themselves to be the best they can be, which enables them to help others to be the best they can be. Lifters are motivated people, who motivate people.

The question you need to ask yourself as a leader is…

“Am I lifting others up to a higher level?”

Many times, leaders unintentionally suppress others by simply overlooking them. They are caught up in their own “issues” and work causing them to miss opportunities to develop those around them. Don’t be drop your head and be so busy that you forget about the most important thing in leadership…connecting with people.

Never forget this…Every time you are around others it’s an opportunity to invest in them. If you’re going to take the time to gather with people for a meeting, lift them up. If you’re going to take the time to stop by someone’s office with a question…lift them up. If you’re going to take the time to message someone…lift them up. If you’re going to do anything that involves someone else…lift them up! Look for ways to compliment, inspire, develop, provide feedback, encourage, and more. We all want to be valued and recognized and that’s what drives us to do better.

Great leaders make sure others get the credit they are due. They look for opportunities to help others get to where they need to go. Lifters thrive when they are able to inspire others. They are willing to humble themselves for the betterment of the team. They truly want to see others become everything they are capable of becoming.

They live as this Chinese proverb says…

  • If you want happiness for an hour—take a nap.
  • If you want happiness for a day—go fishing.
  • If you want happiness for a month—get married.
  • If you want happiness for a year—inherit a fortune.
  • If you want happiness for a lifetime—help others.

Make it a point to always add value to people every time you are around them and your influence will soar to new levels as well as their productivity!
