How Slippery Are Your Thoughts?

How Slippery Are Your Thoughts?

March 22, 2022 Posted by John Barrett

How Slippery Are Your Thoughts?

Your mind can either be sticky or slippery. Meaning things will either stick easily or slide off easily. The more slippery your mind is, the less of a chance unhealthy things have to stick.

A weak mindset operates with sticky thoughts. It allows hurtful words, unhealthy actions, and negative experiences to consume the mind, thus making no room for solutions and productivity. A strong mindset has a slip n’ slide-like behavior; it allows things to be forgiven and forgotten quickly.

If you allow people’s negative words, actions, and behaviors to stick in your mind, it will eat you alive. It’s not that people aren’t hurtful at times, they can be, but that doesn’t mean you have to let it stick in you. Understand that hurting people hurt people. There is almost always a reason why people respond negatively in situations. The issue typically lies within them, causing them to lash out. The moment you realize the bigger issue is not what was done, but where it is coming from is the moment you’ll stop allowing things to stick so easily. The faster you can recover from “bad stuff,” the greater your chances of success.

So, how is your mindset as a leader? Are you operating with sticky thoughts or slippery thoughts when it comes to negative situations in your life?

Highly successful people live on a slip n’ slide mat rather than a velcro wall. Don’t hold on to negative things in your life, or they will consume you. In the words of Elsa…LET IT GO!
