2 Ways Te Get Better
Are there 2 things you could do today that would absolutely make your life worse?
Think about it, is there anything you could do today to make your day terrible? If you answered yes, that means that you believe your choices determine your future. Now, let me ask you this, are there 2 things that you could do today that would make your life significantly better? You probably answered yes to this as well. So, here is what I want you to do.
I want you to do an exercise as you read this right now, it will only take a few minutes (it’s worth your time).
- Take out a piece of paper and write down the top 2 things that you believe would make your life infinitely better. Don’t think too hard and long about this, just write down the first 2 things that pop into your mind. Don’t read on until you do this step.
- Now, I want you to circle the one that is most important to you right now. You have to pick one that gets your top vote.
- Now I want you to come up with an action step to accomplish this. My law of growth (as I see it) says that if you do one thing every day to get closer to your goal you will eventually make it there. So, write down one thing you are going to commit to acting on that will make your life better. Make sure your action step is measurable. Don’t just say I am going to eat better, rather, make your action step something like, I am going to eat 2 pieces of fruit for lunch every day for the next week. Don’t just say I am going to read more, rather, make your action step, I am going to read at least 20 minutes everyday for the next week. You get the point. Make it measurable somehow.
- Now I want you to commit to doing that one step either every day or until you accomplish that “thing.” Commit for the next week to do this action step and don’t let anything stand in your way.
Motivational speaker Brian Tracy said, “Our lives get better when we get better.” The only way we get better is to take time to better ourselves. Growth is not automatic; it only happens with intentional specific planning. Let this simple exercise get you jump-started on your journey to grow and get better. When you get better, things will get better!
